When community, femininity, and human connections meet
Maayan Shrayber, 32, Tel Aviv
here are evenings you leave with a new bag. And there are evenings you leave with a reminder of who you are, and why human connections are the most powerful thing there is. That's how the community evening felt, held in honor of Women's Day by Zendigi, the bag brand led by Oshri and Alon. Every year they choose to pause for a moment, not to launch a product, but to truly meet the community of women around them.
My connection with Zendigi started a long time ago, back when they had a small stand at Dizengoff Center. Even then a connection was formed, one that turned over the years into a true friendship. The kind that stays even as the brand grows, expands, and succeeds, while the people behind it remain exactly the same.
The evening began with a quiet and precise moment. We entered the space one by one, and each of us chose a card with a message. We were asked to write a few words to ourselves, to pause, to listen, to think. From the very first moment it was clear this was not just another event, but an invitation to an inner gathering.
From there we moved to a short mingling of wine and cheese, and initial introductions between women. A feminine, quality, and diverse group, exactly as you'd expect from people who know how to choose not only good materials, but good people.
We then moved to the studio space. On the work table, Zendigi's surprise bags were waiting, and each of us took turns choosing a bag. Inside was a new brand bag, in different colors, each of which felt like a personal choice.
And then came my favorite part. Beads, charms, free creation. Each of us designed a unique chain for her bag, without rules, without right or wrong. Simply to be, to create, and to add another layer of self to an object that is already so much more than an accessory.
t the end of the evening I realized I hadn't come just to celebrate Women's Day. I came to celebrate femininity, uniqueness, and community. I came to remind myself how much power there is in an effortless women's gathering, and how much meaning there is in a brand that chooses to put people above all else.
And I left with so much more than a bag. I left with an experience, with new acquaintances with amazing women, and above all with a deep sense of appreciation for Oshri and Alon, who lead Zendigi with an open heart, sensitivity, and human vision.
And that, in my eyes, is the most beautiful thing to celebrate on Women's Day. And every day.
